Man Who Died in September 11th Attacks Honored with Street Renaming in Flushing

The memory of a Flushing man who died in the September 11th attacks will now live on in his neighborhood.

At a ceremony on Tuesday afternoon, the corner of 154th Street and 26th Avenue in Flushing was renamed Vincent Cangelosi Memorial Way.

Cangelosi's family and friends along with several community leaders attended the event.

"To see my son honored in this way with a street naming just fills my heart," Vincent Cangelosi's father said.

"It's meaningful to me to memorialize him for many many years to come," said Danny Naimola, Vincent Cangelosi's cousin.

Cangelosi worked at Cantor Fitzgerald in the World Trade Center and lost his life during the terror attacks nearly 15 years ago.

There is a 9/11 Memorial Park, built by Cangelosi's family, located near the street now named in Cangelosi's honor.

"This has been such a great spot for the community to come and pray and heal," said City Council member Paul Vallone of Queens.

The park opened on September 11, 2014.
