Two community centers in Queens have been under the same management for years and now want to officially start working as one entity.

Officials at the Samuel Field YM-YWHA and the Central Queens YM-YWHA made the announcement on Wednesday.

They said that people who use both facilities won't see any changes in staffing or facilities at any of their 39 sites.

Representatives added that nursery activities, camping and programs for adults will remain available.

Executive Vice President and CEO Jeri Mendelsohn says the merger is a way to be "smart and better."

"We became aware that we are stronger together than we are separately and in order to provide our communities with the rich level of services that we want to provide, it would be better for us to do that together," said Mendelsohn.

The merger is not official yet and still needs approval from the state.
