Three former Barnes and Noble employees are hoping to start a new chapter for the borough's literary world.

The trio started a crowdfunding campaign last month to bring a new book store to Queens.

They're trying to raise $70,000. They decided to take action after Barnes and Noble closed its Forest Hills and Bayside locations leaving the borough with just one general bookstore. Because they're using Kickstarter  they need to reach $70,000  by June 23rd.

Otherwise they won't get a single cent.

"We wanted the Kickstarter because our entire idea from the beginning has been that it's a community effort to bring a book store back to Queens. The Kickstarter isn't just about raising funds. It's about having something visual to show that this many people want a book store here that badly," said Holly Nikodem of the Queens Book Shop Initative.
