Veterans and students came together in Astoria to create a sea of red, white, and blue on Flag Day.

The Immaculate Conception School held their traditional Flag Day ceremony on Tuesday. Hundreds of kids, parents, and locals gathered to take part in the celebration that also featured musical performances.

Flag Day is celebrated every year on June 14th.  It commemorates the adoption of our country's flag.

Students we spoke with said they enjoyed the annual tradition.

“I like participating in Flag Day because we can show that we're grateful for what America has done for us,” said one student.

“It shows how much I appreciate my country,” added another. “When everyone is together, it shows how much we love it and how we're willing to come together to celebrate it.”

“It's a great time to remember the veterans and our country and all the great things the veterans have done,” said a third student in attendance.

Students also paid tribute to local veterans.
