A Flushing church celebrates a new beginning after some damage from Mother Nature.

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Queens held a rededication ceremony for its sanctuary Sunday. It's been almost a year since lightning struck the church. The lightning strike caused a fire that destroyed parts of the roof and caused more than $120,000 in damages.

"It's only a year because it felt long because it was a whole process of rebuilding, coming together, "says church member Runita Sutton Toomer.

The church has been in the same location on Ash Avenue in Flushing since 1908.
