You don't have to work with inmates to work for New York's Boldest.

The city’s Department of Correction (DOC) held its first-ever agency-wide job fair Saturday at York College. There were careers available in divisions from all over the agency, from the k-9 unit to mechanics.

Thousands of New Yorkers came looking for work and some had on-the-spot interviews.

Organizers say that people don't usually understand how big the DOC operation is.

“[We have] everything from administrative to us running a power plant on Rikers Island,” said Chikera Beckford of the DOC. “There's just a whole host of positions that people don't know that we offer.”

“When the job fair came out, they had a lot of different positions that I didn't even realize they were hiring for,” said applicant Tonya Husbands.

The DOC will be hosting another job fair for military personnel on May 19th at the Fort Hamilton Military Base and another for everyone on June 18th at Brooklyn Borough Hall.
