Mayor Bill De Blasio got his own a Queens Library Card during a visit to a local branch this weekend.

The Mayor joined Queens Library President Dennis Walcott and City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer to speak with families about the importance of keeping the library open six days a week.

The trio then took turns reading a book to kids in the audience.

Last year, NYC's City Council secured funding enabling the Queens Library to keep branches open for at least six days a week.

Since then, the library has also hired additional staff and added new programs to branches throughout the borough.

"We've gotten somewhere that we haven't been in a while in this city, six day a week library service. Two hundred and fourteen library branches around the city and every single one of them is now on a six day schedule and that is good for every community," the Mayor said.
