A Queens woman is facing animal cruelty charges for allegedly keeping dozens of animals in her home.

Officials say 47-year old Elizabeth Grant kept the animals in an unsanitary living environment.

They say they found feces and urine on the floors in the home on 82nd Street in Jackson Heights.

Officials say members from the ASPCA rescued 55 cats, 12 dogs and two turtles, while one dog had to be euthanized.

Neighbors NY1 spoke with say they're upset this happened so close to home.

"She was being held back by the cops, saying how it's her property, she can do whatever she wants," said one neighbor. "Just seeing the poor little animals, most of them looked really skinny. It seemed like the lady wasn't taking care of them."

"I think whatever those animals suffered, she should suffer equally," said another. "I'm sorry. That's really not right."

Grant is due back in court on May 10. She faces up to two years in prison if convicted.
