Two NYPD detectives are facing charges for allegedly assaulting a postal worker who says he is been harassed by the department following the 2014 deaths of Detectives Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos.

Last October, investigators say 27-year-old Karim Baker had just finished a work shift in Queens when he got into his car and was allegedly kicked and punched several times by 29-year-old Robert Carbone and 31-year-old Angelo Pampena before being dragged onto the sidewalk.

According to Baker's lawyer, he unknowingly gave directions to Ismaaiyl Brinsley to the Brooklyn housing complex where police say he shot and killed Liu and Ramos in their patrol car back in December 2014 before taking his own life.

"When they saw that Mr. Baker was one of the last people to speak with Mr. Brimsley before two of their fellow officers were horribly and unfortunately executed, they began targeting him, because Mr. Brimsley had killed himself and they had no other person to go after," said Eric Subin, Baker's attorney.

Baker suffered several injuries in the incident.

Carbone and Pampena have been suspended without pay as the investigation continues.

They both face up to seven years in prison.

They're due back in court June 27.
