It's been weeks since an Astoria woman went missing after quitting her job as a flight attendant. NY1's Shannan Ferry sat down with her family, as their search efforts continue.

"You can't imagine, a heart can hurt, so much," said Donna Shields.

Despite the pain, Donna Shields tries to talk to anyone she can about her missing daughter Sierra.

She's been searching for the 30-year-old for weeks, who was a flight attendant at LaGaurdia Airport.

She was last seen Thursday, January 14 around noon, leaving the airport on foot.

"I just want her back desperately," Shields said.

Originally from Chicago, Sierra moved to Astoria five years ago. Her family describes her as a happy person with a passion for helping others.

But her sister Joy claims she sensed something was off when she spoke to Sierra the day she disappeared.

"It wasn't anything that she said, it was just more the tone, and  maybe the level of distraction," said Joy Shields.

Following that intuition, Joy says she booked a flight to New York that night.  It wasn't until the next morning that she heard Sierra had vanished after leaving the airport.

Ever since, the Shields family has been staying in a hotel and they spend their time hanging up up flyers across the city and spreading the word about Sierra on social media.

"It's difficult at night when you wonder, is she somewhere safe? Is she somewhere warm?" said Alyse Shields, her sister.

As the one month mark since Sierra's disappearance approaches, her family is holding on to hope. They're asking the public to join them in a day of fasting and prayer this Thursday.

"It's been very humbling witnessing, the love that people have expressed," said Chris Shields, who is missing woman's father.

"We just need people to support us, to pray with us," said Donna Shields.

Sierra was last seen wearing a navy blue dress, is 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds.

Her labor union Teamsters is offering a $10,000 reward for anyone with information leading to her whereabouts.

If you have any information or have seen Sierra Shields, call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-8477.
