Prom is an unforgettable event, and one nonprofit organization is making sure local high school students are dressed to impress for that special night.
100 Suits for 100 Men is giving out more than 100 free prom dresses and 30 ties to kids in Jamaica.
During the giveaway called "Magical Moment," cosmetologists will teach girls how to properly apply makeup, and barbers will give free haircuts.
Organizers will also be teaching students how to tie ties.
"If I wear a suit, I'm going to look different, right? I'm going to feel different because I'm treated differently. And this is the imagery we want to give to our young people, men and women. When you wear something professional, you're going to be looked upon differently, and doors do open." said Kevin Livingston, chairman and president of 100 Suits for 100 Men.
The giveaway will take place on February 27 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Harvest Room in Downtown Jamaica. To register, call 347-445-4697.
