Some new mobile apps will soon hit the market thanks to a group of local high school students.

Kids from Grover Cleveland High School presented seven new apps they designed at Forest Park Thursday.

The school's Academy of Information Technology challenged the students to create apps highlighting the benefits of Queens parks.

The finished products included a "Forest Park Attractions App" designed to help users navigate the park.

"Before I had this class, I always wanted to be inside the computer field, and actually getting hands-on experience actually motivated me more to actually go on and start learning this outside of school," said student David Moreno

"I, hopefully, will see this expand to a lot more high schools because I really do think this is the way to learn," said Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña.

The school is part of the National Academy Foundation aimed at preparing high school students for college and beyond.

The free apps will be available on smart devices via Google Play starting January 19.
