Twelve-year-old Kiera Cawley has set her sights on taking over the tech world.

The pre-teen, who lives in the Rockaways, started computer programming coding at just 9 years old when she discovered all the interesting things she could do.

"So I saw you would be able to make like an animation with coding and you could make like animations with coding and you can make a whole website and personalize it," said Cawley.

Cawley is widely considered by the tech industry to be one of the youngest and most accomplished female coders in the country. She's already developed several apps two of which are available in the app store.

Cawley says coding is nothing to be scared of and encourages other kids to get involved, adding "it's just a bunch of logic and once you figure out how to do it you just go on and put a lot of creativity in it."

The accomplished seventh grader earned one of 350 international scholarships to attend Apple's Women Who Code Programming event. Cawley was the youngest coder there and got to meet here idol Apple CEO Tim Cook.

Cawley says she hopes to serve as an example that will encourage other girls to get involved in science, technology, engineering and math.

"I kind of want to be a role model for them because I want them to kind of do what I'm doing and get more women into technology," said Cawley.

Kiera wants to work in robotics and artificial intelligence and she has big plans for the future "when Tim Cook retires, you know who's going to take his spot" Cawley joked.

First, she plans on finishing an app for her school wrestling team and concentrating on getting into a good STEM focused high school.
