Devastated by Hurricane Sandy, a staple in the skate and surf culture of the Rockaways is making a comeback.
The Beach 91st Street Skate Park, once an area filled with rusted metal ramps, welcomed a mini-bowl as its newest addition this week.
The $18,000 structure was donated to the rejuvenated park. Skaters in the area are trying to raise another $3,000 to seal the wood, making it weatherproof.
