Public housing complexes affected by Hurricane Sandy are reportedly in for a multi-billion dollar federal windfall.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved a $3 billion grant to fix and upgrade city Housing Authority buildings damaged by the storm.

A total of 33 housing developments in Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan are expected to benefit.

Some of the money will help pay for new elevated boiler buildings to protect boilers from future floods.

A number of complexes are still using temporary boilers that frequently break down.
