For some kids it's a lot of fun to get up on stage and dance, but it's also a lot of hard work.

Young dancers from the Edge School of the Arts and the Ultimate Dance Academy recently were spotlighted at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center in Queens.

Before they were stage-worthy, they had to fine tune their skills and exercise routines. Their high energy is the result of jumping jacks and crunches.

"They have a rigorous rehearsal and class schedule and for most of them dance is not the only physical activity they have," said Edge School of the Arts Artistic Director Kerri Edge.

"You have to exercise and drink lots of water and stay hydrated and just have fun with it because it's not fun to do something you don't love," said dancer Ashley Santiago.

The show, "Four Little Girls:The Dance-ology", is about the four Sunday school students who were killed during a church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963.
