As we continue marking Queens Week, our exclusive City Poll goes deep in the borough to find out what Queens residents like most to eat. A clue? Dessert—along with a fortune foretold—is often included. NY1's Josh Robin filed this report.

What goes into the wok is delighting Queens residents' taste buds.

"Orange chicken," one resident says.

"Sweet chicken, that's for sure—and anything to do with shrimp," says another.

"Pork fried rice, with chicken on the side," says a third.

No matter what's on the menu, Queens residents tell us Chinese food is their favorite take-out.

That's according to our exclusive poll.

Chinese food is tops 32 percent. Italian food follows at 20 percent. Next are Thai and Indian and 9 each.

Japanese and American come in at 6 each, Mexican is at five, and 9 percent prefer some other kind of takeout food.

Chinese comes in number one for all racial and ethnic groups.

"It tastes fresh. Well not completely fresh, but fresh enough," one person says.

"The flavor. It's tasty," says another.

"It's fast and it's quick," another says.

There might also be a secret to Chinese food's popularity—in the sauce.

"Soy sauce comes from the bean, the fresh bean. Chinese people make the soy sauce with the salt, together," says Peter Tu of the Flushing Chinese Business Association.  "Any type of food you put the soy sauce on, you feel more delicious."

As was clear at the Queens Center Mall the other lunch, people frequently eat food different from their national or ethnic origin.

Twelve percent say they eat a different cuisine every day.

Twenty-one percent say a few times a week.

Thirty percent say once or twice a week.

Twenty-two percent say once or twice a month.

"A huge number eat other foods more than once a week. One in eight eat it every day,” says Baruch College pollster Doug Muzzio. “They are diverse. They love food, and they eat it frequently—other cuisines."

Exhibit one: one woman from Israel. Her favorite is Colonel Sanders' secret recipe.

"Once a week, I go to KFC. It's delicious food. I eat kosher, but I love it."

Whatever you're eating, Queens—bon appetit.
