Saturday began on a sunny note in The Big Apple, but, clouds increased later in the day and a few showers made their way into the area. In addition, the cloud cover ended a streak of 13 days where temperatures were 80 degrees or warmer. It was only the second time this month where afternoon highs only reached the 70s.

The clouds and raindrops are expected to remain in place through Sunday morning, and a thunderstorm could develop in some areas. The rain could be heavy at times, especially before daybreak, and wind gusts of up to 50mph are possible. The sun could peek out after the noon hour, but, the chance of isolated showers and storms will remain. It will also be noticeably more humid than it was on Saturday.

Looking ahead, expect the threat of wet weather to remain in place through the upcoming week. No all-day rain events are expected, but, we will see a shower or storm from time-to-time. Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 80s, and it will be quite humid.
