The Knicks have promoted Steve Mills to team president and have hired Scott Perry to be the team's new general manager.

Mills briefly served as Knicks president before Phil Jackson was hired in 2014, then was bumped to general manager.

The moves come two weeks after Jackson left the team.

The 53-year-old Perry was the executive vice president of basketball operations for the Sacramento Kings. He also worked for the Orlando Magic and the Seattle Supersonics.

He released a statement, saying, "I am excited for the opportunity and the responsibility bestowed upon me. As general manager, I will work tirelessly to develop a culture that demands results, commitment and pride from everyone fortunate enough to be associated with our team."

The Knicks' front office moves reportedly have led them to put Carmelo Anthony trade talks on hold.
