President Donald Trump may have vowed to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Climate accord, but a major U.S. alliance is still attending an international meeting this weekend to fight climate change.

The group "America's Pledge" is backed by several lawmakers and high-profile figures including former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Speaking at the global climate conference in Germany, Bloomberg says the U.S. is still leading the way against greenhouse gas emissions, all without Washington's help.

"For all the talk of America dropping out and America not doing its part, the truth of the matter is: we are leading the way. And that's without the federal government," Bloomberg said.

Meanwhile, Pope Francis is calling on every country to help meet the targeted reductions set by the Paris climate accord.

While speaking to a group of Pacific leaders, the Pope slammed "shortsighted human activity" for global warming and rising sea levels.
