Thousands of protesters gathered outside the Trump International Hotel Thursday night to speak out against Friday's inauguration. NY1's Courtney Gross reports.

There may not be that many celebrities in Washington, D.C. for Donald Trump's festivities, but you could have held a casting call on the Upper West Side on Thursday night.

"I just have to say, I’ve been standing out in here in the freezing cold for a long time," said actor Alec Baldwin.

Baldwin, Rosie Perez, Robert de Niro and even Cher showed up at a rally to stand united against the incoming Trump administration.

Thousands of New Yorkers poured onto Central Park West for the occasion. Some told us they are worried about Trump's policies.

"I think it's important for us to be here because we want to make immigrants and everybody else here safe," said one protester.

Mayor Bill de Blasio used the moment to say New Yorkers would stand up to Trump's policies.

"Donald Trump likes to say he built a movement. Well, now it's our turn to build a movement," de Blasio said.

The message was clear: the president-elect's hometown was not welcoming his administration.

Following the star-studded speeches, some continued on to Trump’s home. After a short walk, they were at Trump Tower.

Attendees said the first 100 days of the Trump administration will be dubbed "100 Days of Resistance," meaning these rallies will continue.
