Mayor Bill de Blasio is facing questions over an alleged cover-up.

The city Law Department is accused of hiding records connected to a controversial real estate deal on the Lower East Side from investigators.

In Philadelphia Wednesday, de Blasio defended his agency's response to the city's Department of Investigation. It was probing the decision to lift a deed restriction on the Rivington House, which allowed it to be developed into condos.

"I think it's being blown out of proportion," de Blasio said. "We turned over thousands and thousands of pages of documents. There was some dispute over some of them, so they worked it out. And they've agreed on some other things that could be made available."

The DOI says the city's Law Department initially refused to turn over records related to the Rivington deal and only made them available after the investigative agency threatened to sue.

In a statement, the Law Department said it followed standard legal procedures in responding to the requests.
