A Bronx father and daughter's breast cancer battle is inspiring other cancer patients.

Bronx Cty Council Member Andy King awarded the pair with the 2018 Charlie Murphy Strength and Courage Award Sunday. In 2006 Arnaldo Silva was diagnosed with breast cancer. A few years later. his daughter Vanessa  was also diagnosed with the disease. The two underwent surgery and chemotherapy treatments together. Each has been a source of strength for the other.

"He thinks that he passed on this disease to his family but he didn't, he  actually saved my life, if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be here today, " said Vanessa Silva-Welch.

"I talk to the man every day that it stops here, " said Arnaldo Silva.
