Demonstrators rallied in Lower Manhattan Tuesday to protest Vice President Mike Pence and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen's visit to the city.

Pence and Nielsen are in town for a summit on cybersecurity, but demonstrators are focused on the hundreds of children who still need to be reunited with their families after being separated at the border.

Among the protesters was a woman who climbed the Statue of Liberty on the Fourth of July.

"We're continuing to fight against the injustice, particularly towards immigration children," said protester Patricia Okoumou.

"I am here with the NYCLU and about 100 of our members and community members who are out here to say to Secretary Nielsen, you do not get to live life as usual, and go about business as usual, while 700 children don't know when they're going to see their parents again," said Andrea Herrera of the New York Civil Liberties Union.

About 100 children are said to be staying in the city, but officials cannot confirm that number, saying the federal government is not sharing information with city officials.
