AUSTIN, Texas -- Capital Metro is warning people not to get too excited about maps that appear to have made the rounds a few weeks early.

The maps show the latest long-term vision for the region's MetroRapid bus and MetroRail systems.

Transit officials said their concerned that the public may get false impressions from the draft plans, which they intended to release in late March. The information first surfaced Monday night when members of a transit advisory committee took to Twitter with screenshots of their packets.

The information included proposals to raise or bury the proposed Guadalupe-Lamar route.

"We are looking at our own dedicated spaces for transit to travel on, so that it doesn't have to compete with any other type of vehicle or transportation," Capital Metro's Amy Peck said.

The transit agency said many of its future projects take lessons from other cities, especially when it comes to keeping transit moving. Steven Knapp serves on the Multimodal Community Advisory Committee, which received the draft packet Monday night.

He said the plan is well thought out, even if it is in its infancy.

"It's not just one line that serves one part of town. It is the beginnings of a larger network and will stick to those guns," Knapp said.

Capital Metro's rail attempts have failed at the ballot box more than they've succeeded, most recently in 2014 by a 15-point margin.
