COOKE COUNTY, Texas – A missing 5-year-old child has been found and a juvenile suspect is in custody, believed to have sexually assaulted her.

The child went missing on Feb. 6 from a home in Cooke County, Texas. Deputies, Texas Rangers, Texas Department of Public Safety investigators, and Child Protective Services began searching for the child.

After a long search, the child was found alive under an abandoned house. She was treated at the scene and transported to a Fort Worth Children’s Hospital for treatment.

Investigators determined a juvenile who lived at the same residence as the young girl took her during the night to the abandoned house. While they were there, police said, the suspect sexually assaulted her and left her at the empty home.

The suspect was detained by the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office and is awaiting arraignment at the Juvenile Detention Center in Denison.

Additional children at the home were taken by Child Protective Services and placed into foster care.
