NEW YORK - New Yorkers are taking in Broadway shows in greater numbers than they have in years.

Broadway League says 22 percent of ticket buyers last year lived in the five boroughs.

That's the most at any time since the 1998-1999 season.

At least 61 percent of theater goers were from out of town.

The league says the variety of shows and programs like Broadway week are helping attract more locals.
