There's a big stink brewing in the East Village, and businesses in the neighborhood aren't happy.

A store called East Village Cheese recently shut its doors after its power went out, and the contents inside have been rotting ever since.

That's causing a foul odor in the neighborhood and concerns over a potential rat infestation.

"We're making complaints with 311 and speaking to council members, and we're kind of desperate for somebody's help because we can't wait 80, 90 days for that cheese to be out of the store," said Julia Knox, owner of East Village Hats.

The store has been closed since December 7.
