The New York Giants could fire head coach Ben McAdoo as soon as Monday, according to published reports.

Sources told ESPN that McAdoo's handling of the benching of quarterback Eli Manning may have been the final straw.

Manning, a two-time Super Bowl MVP, had started every game for the last 13 years until Sunday, when the Giants started former New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith against the Oakland Raiders.

The Giants are 2-9 this season, heading in to Sunday's game. Just last month, team co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch said they would keep McAdoo on until the end of the season.

The Giants did not comment on the report.
