NEW YORK - An Uber driver is arraigned on charges he sexually assaulted a drunk passenger.

It happened last Thursday morning.

Police say Kar Keong Liao, 47, picked up the victim near 52nd Street and Second Avenue.

She had asked him to drive her home to the East Village.

Instead, Liao took her to Flushing, where he allegedly attacked her while she was passed out.

His next court date is September 8.

He could go to prison for up to four years if convicted.

In response, an Uber spokesperson said, "What has been reported is deeply concerning. This driver has been banned from using Uber."
