Parks Department performing checkup on Washington Square Park arch

The iconic arch in Washington Square Park is getting a checkup.

The Parks Department is performing its annual preventative care on the arch this week.

They're testing its structural stability and cleaning off any biological growth and pollutants.

It's part of the parks department's Citywide Monuments Conservation Program that works to preserve the city's cultural heritage.
