NEW YORK - The Metropolitan Museum of Art may soon charge a mandatory fee for non New York City residents.

The current admission policy asks for a suggested fee of $25 for adults, $17 for seniors and $12 for students.

The City's commissioner for Cultural Affairs says his department has discussed ways the museum could adjust its ticket policy.

In a statement Tom Finkelpeal said, "We have spoken to the Metropolitan Museum about the possibility of changing its admission structure — not for New Yorkers, but for out-of-town visitors. Should we receive a formal proposal, we will consider it."
