A skyscraper in Midtown received landmark status Wednesday.

The former Citicorp Center located at Lexington Avenue and 53rd Street was voted unanimously to become a landmark by the Landmarks Preservation Commission.

Built between 1973 and 1978, the commission says the building is a major example of late 20th century architecture.

The complex contains three interlocking buildings that include a 59-story office tower, 6-story retail-and-office structure and Saint Peter's Church.

It's the eleventh building in neighborhood that has recently received landmark status as part of the commission's Greater East Midtown Initiative.
