Police are looking for the man they say fatally shot a homeless man in Midtown early Saturday morning.
Sources said it happened around 2:21 a.m. near Bryant Park, when two men exited a subway station at the corner of West 40th St. and 6th Ave and began fighting.
Investigators said the 27-year-old victim, Terrance Walker, was then shot four times. Medical officials pronounced him dead at the scene.
A witness who did not want his face shown told NY1 that he saw the argument that preceded the shooting.
"Me and two other women were there watching. We thought it was a regular fight. We were just looking," the witness said. "Next minute you know, the gun came out and he just shot him five times. I was shocked. We moved backwards."
"I'm surprised. It's known to be a very safe area," one man said. "It just shows you that you never know who you can run into. Good areas, bad areas — there's no such thing."
Police said the shooter was last seen running westbound on 40th St., wearing a black leather jacket over a blue-hooded sweatshirt.
A gun was recovered at the scene, according to the police.
