kie/oc]NEW YORK - A beloved Manhattan department store is making a comeback after soaring rents forced it close.

Pearl River Mart will open up a temporary pop-up shop at 395 Broadway in TriBeCa next month as it prepares for a grand re-opening in May.

The new store is about five blocks away from the SoHo address where it operated for 45 years.

The owners also plan to boost the store's online presence, form partnerships with Asian-American designers and artists, and host events and exhibitions at the store.

Long-term plans include opening shops in other cities and introducing Pearl River branded merchandise.
