Demonstrators rallied Thursday to protest the death of a mentally ill woman in Manhattan.

66-year-old Deborah Danner was shot and killed in her Castle Hill apartment building Tuesday night by a police pfficer.

Members of the advocacy group the Revolution Club gathered at Union Square Thursday.

They say the case is just one of many recent police-involved shootings that stem from a systemic problem.

"A mentally ill woman, instead of getting care and, you know, given, instead of getting care got killed at the hands of the police and by the police. And I just think this is, this is reality. It's an epidemic," said Amina Gonzalez of The Revolution Club. "You see these stories over and over again."

The group says they're calling for an overhaul of the justice system after the incident.
