The city came together to remember fallen NYPD Detective Randolph Holder.

It's now been one year since Holder was shot and killed while in the line of duty in East Harlem.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner James O'Neill attended a plaque unveiling for Holder where he worked.

Holder's father Randolph Holder Sr. says he appreciates that his son is being honored.

"It fills my heart with joy, apart from sadness, to see the massive support by the NYPD," Holder Sr. said.

"This plaque will give those of you who knew him you an opportunity to tell the next generation of cops his story, the story of his life, the story of service and definitely a story of bravery," O'Neill said.

"Here was a young man who lived his dream, who achieved it," de Blasio said.

Earlier in the day, Holder was among the 18 officers honored in Manhattan as their names were added to the Police Memorial Wall in Battery Park City.

Eight hundred and sixty-three names are engraved on the wall.
