The grandson of an 82-year-old woman is charged with second degree murder after police found her body tied up inside a Manhattan NYCHA complex.

Investigators say 23-year-old Gary Bias bound the wrists and ankles of his grandmother, Ella Nae Bias, with tape inside an apartment at the Lillian Wald Houses in the East Village Friday evening.

Police were called to the scene by Gary Bias' 39-year-old mother, who had also been tied up but was able to free herself.

A neighbor we spoke with was shocked to hear about the incident.

"I guess it is a little scary, you know, you never know what's going on in your next door neighbor's house, or your family's house, or your community's household," the neighbor said. "You never know what's going on in the area, so I just feel like it really is a little scary. You can't be of assistance until it's kinda too late."

Bias also faces a second-degree attempted murder charge for tying up his mother.

She was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries.
