Police say a man was slashed across the face and chest by another man with a box cutter while on the D train in Midtown Thursday morning.

The FDNY says they were called to the 42nd Street-Bryant Park station around 10:20 a.m. on Thursday. That's where they discovered a man with slash wounds.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital with injuries to his face, chest and hands.

Investigators say a verbal dispute caused the incident, and a razor blade was later found inside the train.

"We're viewing video footage now to see if we can get, you know, video feeds of the perpetrator leaving the station or upstairs," said NYPD Chief Vincent Coogan.

"I still don't feel necessarily 'unsafe' in the city because it's a city, but it is concerning," said one resident.

A, B, C, and D trains were delayed as a result of the investigation.

Police say they are still searching for the attacker and are reviewing surviellance video.

Police say the man with the box cutter was wearing a gray shirt.
