It's some good news for residents on the Upper West Side as Amsterdam Avenue is back open after a water main break.

The main broke around 9 p.m. Monday at West 89th Street and Amsterdam Avenue and quickly flooded nearby streets.

Crews say they're continuing repair work in the area.

It caused a giant sinkhole to open up underneath a parked BMW.

ConEd says there was no damage to the main gas line as firefighters hoisted the car out of the sinkhole Tuesday morning.

Nearby dance company, Ballet Hispanico says pressure from the sinkhole burst one of its pipes and caused severe flooding in parts of its studio.

"It flooded our basement," said Eduardo Vilaro, the company's artistic director. "Our basement, which is full of our professional dance company's costumes. It flooded our school of dance and classes are starting next week, so we are looking at a lot of damage, so some floors and actually this — we just did a remodel of this a year ago."

The Fire Department says some basements in the area flooded with at least five feet of water.
