A Queens man has been arraigned after police say he threw a suspicious device into a police van last week.

Hector Meneses, 52, is accused of throwing an object into the marked vehicle near Times Square last Wednesday night.

The object was later found to be a hoax device. It consisted of an electric candle wrapped in tinfoil, with two LED lights covered by a white t-shirt.

Later on, police say they spotted Meneses near Columbus Circle. According to police, when they tried to arrest him, he told officers he had a bomb strapped to his chest and refused to get out of his car.

No explosive devices were found in the car.

Meneses is facing numerous charges, including reckless endangerment, placing a false bomb and making a terroristic threat.

Sources say he's being held until the completion of a psychiatric exam and is due back in court next month.
