A major milestone at the Hudson Yards, as the first tower being built at the site has topped out.

During a ceremony, the last batch of concrete was raised to the top of the building at 30th Street and 10th Avenue.

Construction of the 1.7-million-square-foot building began in December 2012.

The tower is one of the largest in the city built mostly out of concrete. It will also be one of the city's most energy efficient.

"It's a major milestone," said Ronald Wackrow, executive vice president of Related Companies. "And the significance is, as Bruce said, is that this the first truly concrete commercial structure done in the city. But more importantly, it leads us to the now going down the home stretch on this building and finishing it and opening it in March of next year."

The tower is one of five commercial towers slated to be built on the site.

It will open its doors early next year.
