Chick-fil-A officially opened the doors to its first free-standing location in the city on Saturday.

It's located at 37th Street and Sixth Avenue in Midtown.

Customers who spoke with NY1 were excited to get their hands on some of Chick-fil-A's many sandwiches.

"I forgot I was in New York once I started eating," said one customer.

"It's just so delicious and it's just like very high quality," said another happy customer.

It won't be all celebrations though.

An LGBT rights group said it was planning to hold a kiss-in outside the restaurant to protest anti-gay comments made in the past by Chick-fil-A's CEO.
