As college students return to school, Governor Andrew Cuomo was in the city Wednesday to raise awareness about the "enough is enough" campaign to combat sexual assaults on college campuses.

Speaking at NYU, the governor announced a new Sexual Assault Victims unit within the state police that will provide investigative support and assistance to victims of sexual violence.

The new law which was signed in July requires all colleges to adopt a new set of comprehensive procedures and guidelines for dealing with sex crimes.

Governor Cuomo says it's up to the public and schools to let students know that sexual crimes on campus will no longer be tolerated.

"We've told the schools, we've provided them with the material, we said include it in all of the orientation material. Every freshman, every returning student should know the rules of behavior have changed. Every woman should know that. That they have more rights than they had before. And every male should know, behavior is different. You're not getting away with what you got away with before," Cuomo said.

The New York State Police will also maintain its dedicated phone line for reporting sexual assaults on college and university campuses at 1-844-845-7269.
