Two construction workers were injured after a brick wall collapsed in Manhattan Tuesday morning.

They were in the basement of a four-story building when the unsupported wall fell.

It happened on Bowery near Rivington Street a little before 9 a.m.

"Workers in the basement of this building under construction, while they were digging out in the basement for an elevator shaft to get put in, part of an unsupported wall leaned in on them, dropping bricks on them," said FDNY Batallion Chief Thomas Haughney.

The men were able to escape and were taken to Bellevue Hospital. They suffered minor injuries.

Fire officials say the building was evacuated.
