A funeral was held Friday for the security guard shot and killed inside a Manhattan federal building last week.

Family and friends of Idrissa Camara gathered Friday afternoon at a mosque on 115th St between Madison and Fifth Avenues in East Harlem.

A public service was also held on the street.

City and state leaders were among those in attendance.

"It is unfortunate incidents like this that really remind us of the sacrifice that is made for our front-line officers each and every day to protect us," said City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito. "So my deepest sympathy to the family, to please know that we are always there to support you."

"The plethora of people here is a true testimony of what Camara, brother Camara represents for this community," said one speaker. "He's our true hero."

Camara was gunned down last Friday while working at a federal building at 201 Varick Street. He was supposed to get off work an hour earlier but agreed to work overtime.

The gunman, 68-year-old Kevin Downing, then shot and killed himself.

Camara will be buried in Ivory Coast, where he was born.

He is survived by his wife and four children.
