A grand jury has ruled that the four officers who fatally shot an armed suspect last year in Manhattan acted lawfully.

Police say 45-year-old Scott Kato pointed a gun at an employee's head and robbed the Health Source Pharmacy on Second Avenue between 68th and 69th streets last May.

Officials say he took cash and oxycodone, but one of the pill bottles was a fake. It had a GPS device inside, enabling police to track him down.

Police cornered him at 96th Street near the FDR Drive.

Police say he pointed his gun at the officers, who then opened fire and killed him.

Investigators say Kato was responsible for at least six other robberies in the area over a two-and-a-half-year span.
