The Tribeca Film Festival needs a new home.

Tribeca Cinemas has played host to the internationally-renowned event since 2003, but the building's website says it's shutting down because it's being put up for sale.

"It's kind of a bummer," said one person in the area. "There are art houses still in New York City, but very few, so just to know that another one's leaving is sad."

"This comes as a shock because this is a New York landmark. It's very sad to hear that," said another. "I work here in SoHo, I've lived in New York for almost 10 years, and this is terrible."

The building will reportedly be converted to high-end apartments or office space.
