A moment of silence was held for Officer Brian Moore during a special ceremony in Times Square.

Law enforcement officials remembered nearly 300 police officers from around the country who were killed in the line of duty.

In attendance were family members of Detectives Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, who were shot and killed in their patrol car in Brooklyn this past December.

Detective Dennis Guerra's widow, Cathy, also took part. Dennis Guerra died in a Coney Island fire last year.

"It's been a year since my husband passed," Cathy Guerra said. "Since his passing, this will be our fifth funeral to attend, and it's been devastating, very devastating."

The ceremony occurred ahead of a nationwide recognition of Police Week, which begins on Sunday.
