Supporters of Eric Garner are demanding the Justice Department prosecute the police officers involved in his death.

The National Action Network held a march from police headquarters to Brooklyn's Cadman Plaza, saying they want an update on whether the federal government will bring a civil rights case.

"We're shutting the city down if we don't hear nothing by July 17. The city will be shut down, and I will personally be out here at the top of my lungs screaming because we need answers," said Emerald Garner, Eric Garner's daughter. "We're not anti-cop, but we're anti-bad cop, so we need to get these bad cops out of the law enforcement."

Last July, Eric Garner died in police custody as officers tried to arrest him for illegally selling untaxed cigarettes.

His death was ruled a homicide, but a grand jury declined to bring criminal charges.
